How does Augie vote?

Look for this polling station in the library on Election Day!

Look for this polling station in the library on Election Day!

For fun, the library thought we would conduct our own “straw poll” in regards to the presidential election.  After you vote in the real election, please stop by the second floor to place your unofficial vote for president on Tuesday, Nov. 4th.  Our straw polling will be conducted between 7:30 am and 7 pm.

Please vote one time only!

Results of the straw poll will be posted once all ballots have been counted.  Will Augie’s choice be the same as the nation’s?

ALiCats can really gather the food!

As participants in the Augustana Student Food Drive, the Tredway ALiCats accumulated 10 paper boxes of canned goods for food banks throughout the Quad Cities. Our collection was part of the total 1309 pounds of food contributed by the Augustana community. For our winning team effort, Tredway librarians and staff will enjoy a pizza party over fall break awarded by Sarah Johnson in the President’s Office.

American Archives Month

October is American Archives Month, a collaborative effort by professional organizations and repositories around the nation to highlight the importance of records of enduring value.

Archivists are professionals who assess, collect, organize, preserve, maintain control of, and provide access to information that has lasting value, and they help people find and understand the information they need in those records.   Augustana’s archives are located on the first floor of the library in Special Collections.  Feel free to visit us anytime!

Find your polling place

So you registered to vote, you’ve made your decision … now, go vote!  But where is the polling place for your address?

You’ll get your first chance to vote on Monday, October 27th, from 9 to 11:30 am, as Rock Island County’s Voter Trolley visits campus. This only works if you are registered to vote in Rock Island County, however! The trolley will be located in the Centennial Hall parking lot.

If you prefer to vote on election day itself, and you live in Rock Island County, (and all of you who live on the Augustana campus or its surroundings do), you can enter your address here: http://www.co.rock-island.il.us/Polling.aspx to get your polling place.

Those who live in Scott County (which includes Davenport and Bettendorf) can find this information at http://www.scottcountyiowa.com/auditor/polling_places.php.

Google also has a new function that will allow you to find your polling place by putting in your address. This should help you find your polling place if you live outside the Quad Cities area.
