The new compact shelving on first floor is complete, ahead of schedule! We’re very excited, and think it looks great. 
Meanwhile, Special Collections is moving out of its old space and into temporary storage. All of the cases in the old Reading Room have been emptied, and we’re busy packing up materials and labeling shelves. We have done a lot of good work in our current space, so it’s a little sad to see it go, but we’re very excited for the new Special Collections. 
Are we getting new items in special collections, or is the ‘new special collections’ just the new display??
The new special collections will be totally different in terms of layout and space, and will include a larger classroom/reading room which will improve our ability to work with students, better behind-the-scenes infrastructure for maintaining temperature and humidity and thus for preserving our materials, as well as new workspaces for staff.
Of course, we will also continue to add materials to our collections, just as we have always done.
