Do you use Wikipedia?  Do you ever notice errors, pages that don’t exist (but you think they should), or pages with insufficient information?  Wikipedia is the world’s largest encyclopedia, and anyone can edit it, including you. ITS and the Tredway Library are holding an event to help you do that:

ALiCat and I-Share Upgrade!

Rockety-I Online

Do you want to know what clubs were available for students to join at Augustana in the 1890s? Look at fashions from the 1970s? Search no further. The Rockety-I, Augustana’s yearbook, is now available online! The library has digitized this resource as part of Augustana’s 150^th anniversary celebration. It is now available via the library website. This database also features the Observer, Augustana’s student newspaper, which was digitized last winter, and the two can be used separately or together.

If you don’t have time for exhaustive searching of the Rockety-I or Observer, check out Augustana’s 150th website for many stories about Augustana history and daily facts about the college.

Special Collections on Flickr

If you’ve taken a look at any of Augustana’s sesquicentennial pages, you have probably seen a lot of historical photos of Augustana.  Most of these photos are housed, in their print versions, in Special Collections.  But Special Collections also now has a Flickr page, where you can view a  sample of our historical Augustana photos.

The number of photos on Flickr is small compared to the number of photos held in Special Collections: about 60,000 photos in the form of prints, negatives, slides, and glass plate negatives.  Some of these photos are personal, some are of the local area, and many are of Augustana itself.

Augustana Observer Online

The Augustana Observer, Augustana’s student newspaper, has been recording campus life and events since 1902.  And it’s now available online, as a searchable database. In addition to the paper copies found in Special Collections, you can now find the Observer on our website. So dive into Augustana history by searching for the exploits of the Wennerberg Chorus, or seeing what the Observer had to say about well-known people who have appeared on campus.  Don’t have time to search yourself?  Check out the sesquicentennial website, where each week the “This Week in the Observer” feature has an interesting or funny story from the back issues of Augustana’s student newspaper.
