Black Hawk: The Battle for the Heart of America

I’m only 65 pages into it but this book Black Hawk by professor emeritus Kerry Trask from the U. of Wisconsin is riveting and horrifying, that is, it recounts in a measured, scholarly, but lively manner the atrocities the early settlers perpetuated on the Sauk and Fox Indians of the Mississippi and Rock River region. How cruel and greedy human beings can be. Trask will be presenting a public lecture on campus April 7. Read this book and join us for a discussion on March 31–4:00, 518 Tredway.
