October is Archives Month

October is National Archives Month, which celebrates the role of archives across the United States. This year’s theme is “I Found It In the Archives” — a chance for everyone to share what they have found in the archives they use.

For more information on archives, you can read this document from the Society of American Archivists about what archives are, or stop by Special Collections, on the first floor of the Tredway Library, which contains Augustana’s archives. There you can use original archival materials and other primary documents, explore an exhibit on Augustana history, and see a larger version of the poster featured above (can you guess which photo came from Special Collections?).

What interesting items have you discovered in Special Collections?
