Unlike books, which have readily-apparent publication information, manuscript and archival collections do not. Instead, they get indexed using finding aids, which describe the types of materials found in the collection and their historical significance.
Special Collections has posted a number of online finding aids in recent months for a wide variety of collections. There are finding aids for the collections of Augustana organizations such as the Mathematics Club and the Asian Student Organization, for scrapbooks by former Augustana students Flavius Sten (mostly dealing with athletics) and Ethel Pearson (one of the founders of the Phi Ros), as well as local history materials like early nineteenth-century trade ledgers.
Check out these online finding aids, and stop by Special Collections to see the materials they describe.
