October is American Archives Month, a time to focus on the importance of the vast collections of archival and historical records held at many institutions, both big and small. Archives preserve and make available original primary source materials such as letters, reports, scrapbooks, notes, diaries, memos, photographs, audio and video recordings, and many other types of materials.
At Augustana, archival collections are located in Special Collections, on the first floor of the Tredway Library. Celebrate archives month by coming to look at some of the materials held in Special Collections, or look at our latest exhibit. Let us know why you have used archives, and what story you’ve told with those materials. More information about Special Collections is available on our website. Also, make sure to check out the Illinois Archives Month poster, which features two images from Augustana. Can you identify both?
